Grimes Merch

Three years on from the release of Art Angels, Grimes is back with merch to support her new music. The collection includes a series of black, pink and white t-shirts featuring her artwork silkscreened on vintage tees. The proceeds from the sale of each shirt will benefit Carbon180, a sustainable climate change campaign.

T-Shirts

A T-shirt is a garment constructed of cotton textile in a stockinette or jersey knit, with a distinctively soft and pliable feel when compared to garments made from woven cloth. The T-shirt has become a part of modern American clothing, being worn as undergarments, casual outerwear, or as part of military uniforms. It is also commonly decorated by screen printing, spray painting, daubing, bleaching, sponging, spanking crayons and other techniques.

Marlon Brando's portrayal of Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire captured an erotic quality of the T-shirt as it clings to the torso of the character. The T-shirt has since been used for a variety of expressive messages, from community-minded causes to political slogans.

T-shirts come in many styles and lengths, from the short-sleeved "cap" shirt to long-sleeved versions that reach down to the bottom of the torso. Sleeves may be cropped, standard or long and tees can be fitted, tailored or baby doll shaped. Designers like Donna Karan and Helmut Lang have created collections that are based on the T-shirt.
